年間の週末数
11月 01, 2024 •
A calendar year has 52 or 53 Saturdays and 52 or 53 Sundays. The exact totals depend on the weekdays on which the year begins and ends. Leap years do not automatically have 53 weekends.
Calculate weekends in a year
This calculator treats Saturday and Sunday as weekend days. It reports Saturday-starting weekends, individual weekend days, and complete Saturday–Sunday pairs wholly inside the selected calendar year.
Enter a year to calculate its weekends.
How the calculation works
A common year contains 365 days: 52 complete weeks plus one extra day. A leap year contains 366 days: 52 complete weeks plus two extra days. The extra days can fall on weekdays or weekend days.
The tool counts each Saturday and Sunday in the Gregorian calendar. A Saturday-starting weekend is counted if its Saturday falls inside the year, even if the following Sunday is 1 January. A complete weekend pair is counted only when both days fall inside the year. These definitions explain why totals can differ at the year boundary.
Examples
In 2024, there are 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays: 104 weekend days and 52 complete weekend pairs. In 2022, there are 53 Saturdays and 52 Sundays: 105 weekend days. Its final Saturday is 31 December, so only 52 Saturday–Sunday pairs are wholly within 2022.
Using the result
The totals can help when planning shifts, events or time off. They do not account for public holidays, leave allowances or places where the weekend falls on different days. For historical dates, the calculator applies the Gregorian rules consistently rather than modelling each country’s calendar adoption.
