This page describes the information involved in using Security Briefing, its security tools and contact form.

Browsing and site security

The site uses WordPress and is delivered through Cloudflare. Hosting and security services process request information such as IP addresses, requested addresses, timestamps and browser information to deliver the site, diagnose failures and help prevent abuse. IP addresses can be personal information. Access to administrative areas requires authentication.

Contact messages

If you use our contact form, your name, email address and message are sent to [email protected] so we can respond. The form limits input lengths, checks a submission token and uses a short-lived identifier derived from the request IP address to limit repeated submissions. Those rate-limit records expire after 15 minutes; single-use submission markers expire after 10 minutes. A mail-service acceptance response does not prove that a message reached the inbox.

Do not send passwords, private keys, payment information or confidential documents. You may also contact us directly by email.

Browser-based security tools

Our password generator, password strength checker, hash generator and email header analyser process their inputs in your browser. They do not submit those inputs through the contact form or a remote analysis service. Generated-password history stays in the page memory and clears when the page is closed or reloaded. Avoid entering a password you currently use into an online tool.

Cookies and browser storage

WordPress authentication and security features may use cookies when you sign in. Language and browser feature preferences may use browser storage. See our cookie and storage explanation. Public pages do not need an account. This site does not operate the newsletter signup previously displayed in its templates.

Third-party resources and external links

Cloudflare processes network requests to deliver and protect this site. Font files are served from this website. Pages may contain external links and optional embedded media; external services receive network information when requested. External websites have their own policies. Our public-page security policy blocks third-party telemetry scripts from executing.

Questions about your information

To ask about information you have sent us, request a correction or request deletion, email [email protected]. Include enough information to identify your message without sending additional sensitive data.

Optional YouTube media preferences

YouTube players are blocked until you permit them through the video controls or the Media preferences link in the footer. Accept videos permits YouTube players; Reject videos blocks them. You can also save your checkbox preference. The choice is stored as sb-media-consent in local storage in this browser.

Withdrawing permission removes players from the page and prevents further player loads here. It cannot erase data or cookies already held by YouTube; use your browser and provider settings for that. Locally hosted fonts and Cloudflare delivery remain part of normal page delivery.
