Private Security Companies in Los Angeles

Private security in Los Angeles means three different things: posted guards, mobile patrol, and personal protection. Decide which you need first, because they call for different questions.

By Security Briefing, an independent publication. Details checked . Listings are not endorsements.

Which kind of private security do you need?

  • Private guarding

Officers posted at one site. Ask about relief staffing and supervisor checks.

  • Mobile patrol

Scheduled visits and alarm response. Ask for visit records. See patrol services.

  • Personal protection

Protection for a person, not a building. Ask who plans the work and what experience they have.

What each company's page names. A listed service isn't proof of depth, so ask for a similar client. Alphabetical within type. BBB details come from its profile; Yelp scores from Yelp's search listing, for the location shown. A score from a few reviews says little. We don't rate companies ourselves. Checked November 6, 2026.

Check a California license

Search private patrol operators on the BSIS verify a license page. Protection specialists should still show a license you can check.
